The Practice Tee
Beginning this week you will
notice some unusual activity on the
practice tee. On the back part of the
upper tee, we are laying 225 feet of
cement to accommodate fifteen pads of
artificial turf for practice stations.
The cement will incorporate a beige
color dye for aesthetics; and the pads
and hitting stations are identical to
those used at the Atlanta Athletic Club,
Hoover Country Club in Birmingham, and
other fine clubs in this region.
We will begin use of these tees
immediately for non-member activity such
as golf outings, school practice or
competitions, and any other extra usage.
Of course, this winter, when the upper
tee is covered, the mats will enable us
to use our over-seeded tee area along
with the mats for inclement weather and
wood club usage for longer hitters.
If our initial use of this type of pad
helps our range and turf management of
the practice tee as expected, we feel
that member enjoyment of the facility
should increase as your golf handicaps
decrease. |
